Thailand’s financial landscape has marked a historic turning point as the Bank of Thailand granted the country’s first virtual banking license to CLICX on May 14, 2026. A joint venture between Krungthai Bank (KTB), Advanced Info Service (AIS), and PTT Oil and Retail Business (OR), the new entity is poised to transform traditional banking through a branchless, digital-first approach.
The consortium leverages the combined strengths of its founders, integrating wide-reaching digital technology with established financial expertise and an extensive consumer ecosystem. By eliminating the need for physical branches and paper-based processes, CLICX aims to provide more agile and secure financial services. The platform is scheduled to officially launch its operations by June 2026.
Central to its strategy is the concept of “Bank in One CLICX,” which utilizes Artificial Intelligence and alternative data to assess creditworthiness. By analyzing real-life behaviors—such as mobility, communication patterns, and everyday service usage—the bank can offer personalized credit solutions. This methodology provides a deeper understanding of users beyond what is typically visible in traditional financial documents.
The initiative aligns with the Bank of Thailand’s Open Data for Consumer Empowerment policy, allowing CLICX to develop advanced credit assessment models. This is particularly significant for underserved segments, including freelancers, small entrepreneurs, and those with irregular incomes. By facilitating access to formal funding, the bank seeks to reduce reliance on informal debt and promote long-term financial stability.
Furthermore, CLICX supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on reducing inequalities and fostering innovation. By harnessing behavioral finance, the platform encourages better savings habits and financial literacy across the nation. This digital evolution represents a strategic step toward a more inclusive financial system that is seamlessly integrated into the daily lives of Thai citizens.
